Tree Work

Here are a couple quick before and after pictures of the tree pruning work that was recently completed.

5th Hole - The limbs that were over hanging the bunker on the left of the fairway were removed.

18th Hole - The large limb that was overhanging the left side of the fairway was removed. The two spruce trees in the left rough were also removed.

12th Tee Vines

You may have seen this  photo floating around the club house.  At the last Green Committee meeting it was proposed that we clear out the area to the right of the 12th tee. Over the years wisteria vines have completely overtaken the arborvitae trees that were planted there. The original purpose of the arborvitae trees was to provide privacy and shield the 12th tee and 11th green from the noise of Hathaway road. They also shield the dirt parking lot where the turf care center staff parks and our mower wash-off pad. The wisteria vines still do a great job of shielding the course but they are a serious eye sore; especially in the spring and fall when there aren't any leaves on the vines. It was unanimously agreed among the committee members that  something needs to be done to improve the area.

The before and after pictures below show what the area would look like it were simply cleaned out and sodded. The ultimate goal would be to plant some better selections of hardwood trees and shrubs on the far side of the cart path that runs through the current dirt parking lot. These trees would shield the staff parking lot and our mower wash off pad from view.  The area on the near side of the cart path would be sodded and remain as turf.

We hope to begin work on the project in two phases throughout the year. The first phase will involve planting the new trees and shrubs and cleaning up the entire area on far side of the cart path while still being shielded by the wisteria covered arborvitae trees. Once the area on the far side of the cart path is clean and complete we will clear the wisteria covered arborvitaes and either lay sod or plant seed.
